ROPE Endorses Mary Fallin for Government

Congresswoman Mary Fallin is a lifelong conservative with more than 19 years in public office. Before entering public service, Mary was a regional manager of a national hotel chain. She was honored as a manager of the year for her leadership and managerial performance. In 1990, Mary was first elected as a state representative and was named “Legislator of the Year” for her work in the Oklahoma House. She went on to become the first woman and the first Republican lieutenant governor in 1995, a position which she held for 12 years. During her time as lieutenant governor, Mary waged an aggressive campaign to bring more jobs to Oklahoma - recruiting businesses, promoting economic development, spearheading the “Right to Work” campaign and leading the charge to reform the state’s costly workers’ compensation system.

In 2006, Mary was elected to the United States Congress, where she has fought against dangerous government expansion and promoted pro-growth, fiscally responsible policies. For her work on behalf of the people of Oklahoma and her conservative values, Mary has been named a “Guardian of Small Business,” by the National Federation of Independent Business, a “Hero of the Taxpayer,” by Americans for Tax Reform, a “Friend of the Wildcatter” from the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association and received the “True Blue” award from Focus on the Family and the Family Research Council as well as the “Spirit of Enterprise” award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. She has a lifelong score of 96 from the American Conservative Union, the highest of any congressman in the Oklahoma delegation.

Mary is a Tecumseh native and a member of Crossings Church. She lives in Edmond with her husband, Wade Christensen, an Oklahoma City attorney. The couple has six children between them.
